From humble beginnings, Lakeland Co-op today has over 25 employees serving over 4,300 members. For over 29 years, the Lakeland Co-op has been serving Bonnyville and area, and we are very proud of the tradition we have created and our success is a testament to the founding individuals that had the foresight to start a co-operative.

The Co-op started operations in August 1984 with incorporation being March 1985. The Co-op started in downtown Bonnyville on the corner of 50th Ave & 46th Street. In February of 1990 the business moved to 6020-54th avenue, the present location with all new facilities.
In 1992 an addition was added to the store building. In 1995 the addition was renovated into sales floor, a board room and manager’s office was built on the south side and a 50' x 100' cold warehouse was built. In 1996 an upgrade was completed on the cardlock and two more 70,000 litre storage tanks were added to the bulk plant tank farm. In 1997 2.5 acres of land was purchased adjacent to the existing property owned. In 1998 an addition was built onto the store to accommodate an administration office and a freight receiving area. Also in 1998 a cold storage and oil warehouse was constructed on the new property purchased.1999 built cardlock at Cold Lake.
In 2001-2002 a new Agro Centre was built. In 2003-2004 the Co-op relocated and renovated a building into heated a Chemical warehouse and received AWSA certification for new warehouse. Along with the construction of a 2nd Cardlock site at the Bonnyville location. In 2005 a 4000 sq ft addition to Agro Centre was completed. In the fall of 2006 purchased 30 x 40 Quonset building and spring 2007 purchased 30 x 40 Quonset building for cold storage and completed fence on front property for display area. In the fall of 2007 the Co-op constructed a new Bulk Fuel tank storage farm which included 9-148,800 litre storage tanks, new containment dyke and new pumps for all card lock dispensers. In 2008 the Co-op built a new 80 x 80 Feed warehouse building and started renovations on the old feed warehouse building to convert the building into a heated warehouse, some offices and 2000 sq feet of sales floor which was completed spring 2009. In the spring of 2013 the main sales floor received a major upgrade including new BMF shelves and decor package.
